2026 Chevy Colorado Specs and Dimensions PA
Every published figure for the 2026 Colorado, by configuration, with the ones nobody publishes said plainly.
This page carries the numbers: engine output, exterior and interior dimensions, capacity by configuration, wheels and tires, EPA mileage, the feature grid and the warranty terms. Where two published records disagree, that is said here rather than papered over. For what the trims cost and what each step adds, see Colorado trims and pricing; for the full lineup picture, the Colorado overview.

Two figures we do not print per trim, and why. Curb weight and gross vehicle weight rating are published differently by different records. On the four-wheel-drive and off-road trims the two most authoritative sets differ by roughly a hundred pounds on every configuration. Rather than pick a winner, the rear-wheel-drive figures above are the ones both agree on, and the number that governs your truck is printed on the tire-and-loading label inside the driver's door. Ground clearance below the Trail Boss sits in only one record, so it is not printed here either.
Interior Dimensions
| Measurement | Front | Rear |

Capacity and Capability
| Configuration | Max trailer weight | GCWR |
|---|---|---|
| 2.7L TurboMax, rear-wheel drive, crew cab | 7,700 lbs | 13,250 lbs |
| 2.7L TurboMax, four-wheel drive, crew cab | 7,700 lbs | 13,250 lbs |
| 2.7L TurboMax, ZR2, four-wheel drive | 6,000 lbs | 11,600 lbs |
Both of those ratings carry equipment conditions, and Chevrolet publishes no gooseneck or fifth-wheel figure. Payload spans roughly 1,445 to 2,046 pounds across the crew cab configurations above, with 1,710 pounds on a rear-wheel-drive build. The conditions, the per-configuration payload figures and what any of it means with a trailer attached are worked through in full one page over.
The bed measures 5 feet, 61.7 inches on the floor, and holds 41.9 cubic feet. It carries a mid-position tailgate rated to 500 lbs, a built-in measurement tool and cargo bed lighting. Full trailer detail sits on the Colorado towing capacity page.
Wheels, Tires, and Brakes
| Trim | Wheels | Tires |
|---|---|---|
| WT | 17 x 8 | 255/65R17 all-season |
| Custom | 18-inch high-gloss black aluminium | All-season |
| LT | 17 x 8 argent finish | 255/65R17 all-season |
| Trail Boss | 18 x 8.5, 20-inch available | 265/65R18, 32-inch all-terrain |
| Z71 | 18 x 8.5, 20-inch available | 265/65R18, 32-inch all-terrain |
| ZR2 | 17 x 8 | LT285/70R17, 33-inch mud-terrain |
Freeze and thaw cycle through this region all late winter, and the potholes that opens up cost more wheels, tires and alignments than the mileage ever does, which is a real argument for the 17-inch wheels and their taller sidewall over the 20-inch options.
Fuel Economy and Range
| Configuration | City | Highway | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rear-wheel drive | 19 MPG | 24 MPG | 21 MPG |
| Four-wheel drive | 17 MPG | 22 MPG | 19 MPG |
| Four-wheel drive, mud-terrain tires | 17 MPG | 20 MPG | 18 MPG |
| ZR2 | 17 MPG | 17 MPG | 17 MPG |
| ZR2 Bison | 16 MPG | 16 MPG | 16 MPG |
EPA estimates, published at fueleconomy.gov. On a 21.4-gallon tank, the rear-wheel-drive combined figure works out to roughly 449 miles between fills. Your mileage will vary.

S = standard · O = available · not std = not standard equipment on that trim, which is not the same as unavailable. A feature whose scope could not be confirmed on every trim is left off this grid rather than part-filled. The deeper per-trim breakdown lives on Colorado trims and pricing.
Safety and Compliance
Nothing in the driver-assistance column changes as you climb the trim ladder, which is unusual and worth knowing before anyone tries to sell you up for it. Six items travel under the Chevy Safety Assist name on all six trims. Two more that buyers usually expect to pay for do not: blind-spot monitoring, and front and rear cross-traffic alert. NHTSA's own record for this truck separately lists electronic stability control, forward collision warning and lane departure warning as standard.
The six under the Chevy Safety Assist name are automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assist with lane departure warning, a following-distance indicator, and IntelliBeam high beams.
| Rating body and test | 2026 Colorado result |
|---|---|
| NHTSA overall | 4 stars |
| NHTSA frontal crash | 4 stars |
| NHTSA side crash | 5 stars |
| NHTSA rollover | 3 stars |
| IIHS small overlap front | Good |
| IIHS moderate overlap front | Marginal |
| IIHS side | Good |
| IIHS front crash prevention, pedestrian | Acceptable |
| IIHS front crash prevention, vehicle-to-vehicle | Poor |
Both rating sets are published in full at nhtsa.gov and iihs.org, where they are also dated. The Colorado does not currently hold an IIHS award.
Warranty Coverage
| Bumper-to-bumper | 3 years / 36,000 miles |
| Powertrain | 5 years / 60,000 miles |
| Rust-through | 6 years / 100,000 miles |
| Corrosion | 3 years / 36,000 miles |
| Roadside assistance and courtesy transportation | 5 years / 60,000 miles |
Original tires are covered under the bumper-to-bumper term, prorated after 12,000 miles, and Connected Access runs 10 years. Corrosion coverage and rust-through coverage are separate terms and are often quoted as one; they are not. Intervals, the covered first visit and what ownership actually costs here are on the Colorado maintenance page.
What These 2026 Colorado Numbers Mean in Practice
| The number | What it decides |
|---|---|
| 78.8 to 81.9 inches tall | A standard residential garage door opening is about seven feet. Every Colorado clears it, but a ZR2 with a roof rack or a light bar does not have much left. Measure before you buy the accessory, not after. |
| 84.4 inches wide with mirrors | A single garage bay is typically eight feet of clear opening. That leaves roughly half a foot a side with the mirrors out, which is why they fold. |
| 212.7 to 213.2 inches long | A standard parking space is eighteen feet. The Colorado fits inside one; a full-size crew cab does not. |
| 34.7 inches of rear leg room | Two adults behind two adults is comfortable. Three across the back seat works for a school run and gets tight beyond an hour. |
| 5-foot bed with a mid-position tailgate | The mid-gate stop is what lets 8-foot material ride supported rather than balanced on the tailgate edge. It is the single most useful thing about a short bed. |
| 6,050-pound GVWR against a 4,310-pound curb weight | That gap is what you get to fill with people, gear, a hitch and tongue weight, and tongue weight is part of it, which is the calculation most first-time towers skip. |
Two of those numbers do more work in the Lehigh Valley than anywhere else. The 84.4-inch mirror width is the figure that decides whether a truck is pleasant on MacArthur Road in Whitehall, where the big-box lots were striped long before crew cabs were the default. And the 213-inch overall length is why a Colorado parks in Bethlehem's Historic District and in downtown Easton, on streets laid out for horses, while the full-size alternative circles the block. Buyers drive to us from Bethlehem, Easton, Emmaus, Nazareth, Whitehall and Slatington, and the tape measure is usually what settles it. A Nazareth garage built in the eighties and a Slatington one built last year ask very different questions of a 213-inch truck, and Emmaus row-house driveways ask a third.
Specifications FAQs
How long is a 2026 Chevy Colorado?
Between 212.7 and 213.2 inches depending on trim, on a 131.4-inch wheelbase. The ZR2 is the shortest at 212.7 inches; the LT, Trail Boss and Z71 are the longest at 213.2.
Will a 2026 Colorado fit in a standard garage?
Yes on every trim. Height runs 78.8 to 81.9 inches against a typical seven-foot garage door opening, and width is 84.4 inches with the mirrors out against an eight-foot single-bay opening. The ZR2 is the tightest of the six and leaves the least room for a roof accessory.
How big is the 2026 Colorado bed?
5 feet, 61.7 inches on the floor, with 41.9 cubic feet of cargo volume. There is one bed length across the whole lineup. The mid-position tailgate is rated to 500 lbs and there is a measurement tool built into it.
How much does a 2026 Colorado weigh?
4,310 pounds with rear-wheel drive, against a 6,050-pound gross vehicle weight rating. Four-wheel-drive and off-road trims weigh more, and the published records disagree on those figures by around a hundred pounds, so the number that governs a particular truck is the one on the tire-and-loading label inside its driver's door.
What is the ground clearance of a Colorado ZR2?
10.7 inches, on a three-inch factory lift and 33-inch mud-terrain tires. The Trail Boss sits at 9.5 inches on a two-inch lift and 32-inch all-terrains.
